FIRST STEPS is a month long course, divided into 4 weekly units. It is an introduction to insight meditation focused on embodied mindfulness. It is not a complete vipassana course, but preparation for releasing into deeper teachings.
You can do the course on your own or consult with a teacher as you go along. If you find yourself developing tightness or other signs of stress, you are working too hard. The process of opening to awareness is unlike most learning situations. Continue with the instructions, but during your sitting time and during the day let the instructions go and just rest in the experience of being a body and attending to the breath only if it feels naturally relaxed.
